Bit of German Atomic Living

1959 Das Haus, Okt., Wohnzimmer.

That floor lamp is mighty interesting, and the large indoor planter is reminiscent of what would be see in many American ranch homes, usually situated by the main doorway as a divider. And the muted colors make it more appealing to today's modern taste.

Those chairs look mighty comfy.
I didn't even realise that was a lamp - yes it is interesting.
I've been trying to find pictures of homes with indoor planters (from back in the day) so this is one for the collection.

There's always loads of great stuff on ebay uk from Germany, but it's always soooo expensive, however they do have some very cool atomic stuff!

"Atomic" and "German" really do go together which is weird since we don't normally thing of them as a "pair". I could live in that living room thank you very much.

Those chairs and the whole living space looks sooo comfy indeed...

I really appreciate the European take on atomic design... it's immediately recognizable as atomic, but at the same time so different from anything seen in the States. I guess it works both ways!

I love those atomic German plant stands! Have you seen them? Formica tops and multi-level? I'll do a post about them. =D

I had my eye on one a while back there, but the BIN price and the s/h from Deutschland was a bit too steep for me. =/ But maybe someday...
