Serving Up a Hot Dish of Envy

Sometimes a peek of another's accomplishment can fill you with inspiration, motivation and maybe a touch of awe.

Others can just make you feel like throwing in the towel, kicking the bucket, shooting yourself and say "stop kidding yourself, you ain't ever gonna even sit in the stands of the same ballpark where the big leagues play."

This dining room, for example, does a bit of both.

lol I hear ya...

But the funny thing is, these folks with the "perfect" rooms/homes don't seem to be any more happy or content or whatever it is you think you will feel if you had the "perfection" they have.

I used to think "famous" people, or people with notoriety had it made, until I started talking to a lot of them.

Turns out, much of the notion that "they have it made" is perceived.

Go figure.

Of course, that doesn't stop ME from wanting that perfect atomic sculpture or couch. =D teehee...

Reading the blogs makes me aware that we are all doing a good job of bringing all kinds of vintage style to the "formica table", if you will. I love seeing what y'all have purchased recently or better yet, found on the curb or dumpster. Half of the fun is the hunt in finding something unusual or old. I think that's why we all say "look what I just scored!" That, or we are akin' to crackheads, scoring some vintage to us is like getting a high! I think its a little of both actually. I know I'm addicted to vintage. Don't get disparaged by others stuff, get inspired!

Sometimes I think the more a person owns and accomplishes, the more dissatisfied they're prone to be. But it's still fun to look at if you can keep it in perspective!

Like Amber says, it's not just about the "item" its the "discovery" where most of the fun for us comes in!

I agree with everything said - especially regarding the thrill of the chase!
