If you're at all worried about getting it apart and not being able to get it back together, do what I do when ripping apart a car. Take a photo at every step, put small parts in ziplock bags and label them, be very anal about keeping track of how it came apart and it's not too hard to put back together. My problem is, I'll take it apart, clean it, start to paint it, skip the photo piece of the process, and two or three weeks later have to reassemble by trial and error. I looked at my sputnik lamps when I first got them and realized they're a lot more complicated, more like a pole lamp, so each arm is like it's own lamp.
